Down in Village Deeh, which is part of Unnao, we have been running Maa Kaushalya Devi Agriculture. If you need to find us, we are usually over at Krishanpal Singh’s place talking about the next harvest. We are all just people from the village who thought it made sense to work as a team. In Deeh, there is not much else going on besides farming, so it is what we focus on every single day. We are not a big company with money to throw around on things we don't need. Our tractors are mostly old and our hands are always stained from the soil. We started this group because we needed a better way to sell what we grow. It makes the whole process easier when everyone brings their crops together at the same time. We spend our evenings sitting on porches talking about which crops worked out and which ones were a total waste of time this season. There is no boss or corporate ladder here, just neighbors trying to help each other out. We don't have any mission statements or goals written on the walls. We just want to make sure the time we spend in the sun actually puts food on the table. It is a simple life here in Unnao, and that suits us just fine. We keep our heads down and keep working the same land our fathers did. It is honest work and that is plenty for us.
