Noida Special Economic Zone, or NSEZ as we call it, is a specific kind of place. We are at plot number 20. You have to go through the security gates and all the formalities just to get to work every day. Indo-Dan Lampshades Pvt. Ltd. is tucked away in there. It’s a bit of a maze if you aren't used to it. Inside, it’s all about the shades. We have people who are really good with their hands, putting things together. It’s a bit more delicate than a heavy machinery plant. The zone is pretty organized, which is nice, but it can feel a bit sterile compared to the outside streets. We’ve been at 20 for quite some time now. The light inside the workshop is always bright because we need to see the details of what we are making. We don't use big words to describe ourselves. We just make lampshades and try to do it right. There’s always a bit of paperwork because of being in the SEZ, but that’s just part of the deal. The staff here is like a small family. We know who likes their tea with extra sugar and who prefers to work in silence. It’s a decent place to spend the day. Noida has grown so much around us, but inside the zone, things stay pretty much the same. We like the routine of the place and the people we work with every day.
