Step By Step School

Finding Step By Step School involves a bit of a drive since we’re out at Plot No-A 10 in Block B of Sector 132. Being so close to the Yamuna Expressway means there is always a sense of space around us, which is a nice change from the cramped city center. The wind really whips across the open plots out here, especially during the monsoon months. We have a lot of ground to cover on this site. The building is fairly new compared to some others, but it already has that lived-in feel with scuff marks on the floors and posters that are starting to curl at the edges. Everyone here is pretty grounded. We spend our mornings checking the buses and making sure the groundskeepers have watered the grass. There’s a lot of walking involved just to get from the main gate to the office. It’s not one of those places where everything is shiny and untouchable. It’s a working school. You’ll see muddy shoes in the hallway after football practice and teachers carrying stacks of notebooks that look like they might tip over. We don't bother with a lot of the formal stuff you see in brochures. We just show up, open the classrooms, and get on with the day. The expressway is always humming nearby, reminding us how far out we are, but once the first bell rings, we’re all just focused on what’s happening inside these walls.
