Raj Commodities

Our office is on the first floor of building 71 in the Old Dhan Mandi. This is an old part of the city, and the building has a lot of character, which is a nice way of saying the stairs are a bit crooked and the paint is peeling. Raj Commodities has been in this same spot for a long time. When you walk in, the first thing you notice is the smell of dry earth and jute bags. We deal in bulk grains and seeds, so we have small cloth bags of samples sitting all over the wooden desks. It is definitely not a modern corporate space; we still use old metal cabinets and heavy wooden chairs that have been here for decades. Our day usually starts by checking the market rates and talking to the people who bring their produce to the mandi. It involves a lot of sitting around and drinking tea while discussing prices. Sometimes a deal is finished quickly, but other times it takes a lot of back-and-forth over a glass of water. We do not have a marketing department or any fancy brochures to hand out. Our business is built on the fact that the people in the market know us and trust our word. When it is harvest season, the whole place gets incredibly busy and we are here until late at night. The rest of the year is a bit slower, giving us time to fix the equipment and catch up on some rest.
