If you’re driving down Mathura Road, you’ve probably seen us at 16/5. Raj Furnitures is a busy little place, mostly because the road outside never stops. We have a lot of wood and tools sitting around, and there’s always someone hammering something in the back. It’s a bit cramped inside because we try to fit as much as we can on the floor. We don't have those bright lights you see in big malls. We just have a few bulbs and whatever light comes in through the front door. People stop by after work usually, so our evenings are busier than the mornings. We spend a lot of time talking to folks about what they need for their homes. Mathura Road is dusty, so we have to wipe down the tables and chairs pretty much every hour. It’s just two of us mostly, and maybe a helper if we have a big delivery. We do our own loading and unloading because it’s easier that way. The building is older, but it’s sturdy enough for what we do. We’ve been here at 16/5 for years, and we know most of the other shop owners on this block. We aren't trying to be the biggest place on the road, just the one that gets the job done right. It takes time to get things finished when the traffic is loud, but we manage somehow. The sawdust gets everywhere.
