We are located out in Himmatpur Kakamai, which is a village area in the Etah district. It is near the Muiddinpur post office. Most of the people around here are involved in farming, so the school is a central part of the rural community. Students come here from several nearby villages, often traveling quite a distance on foot or by bicycle. The school building is a plain structure that sits among the fields. It has been here for many years, and we have seen many generations pass through these doors. We teach the older students mostly, and the atmosphere is quite serious when exams are approaching. We don’t have a lot of the luxuries you find in urban schools. The electricity can be a bit unreliable, so we often rely on the natural light from the large windows. The furniture is made of heavy wood and has been around for a long time. Our teachers are mostly from this region, so they understand the struggles the students face. We don't have a big fancy office or a shiny reception area. It’s just a place for learning. During harvest time, attendance can be a bit thin because kids have to help their families, but we understand that. It is a very practical and grounded place for education in this part of Uttar Pradesh.
