M U G N Inter College is situated in Nadrala, which is part of the Aliganj area in Etah. It’s a typical rural inter college. The road getting here can be a bit bumpy depending on the season, but the students don’t seem to mind. They come from all the surrounding small villages, often walking or cycling several kilometers. The building is a long structure with a row of rooms. We have classes from the lower grades up to the intermediate level. It’s always loud during the recess when everyone is outside in the open space. We don’t have a big fancy office, just a small room with a desk and some wooden cupboards for the records. The walls have some old charts and maps hanging on them. We try to follow the board syllabus as best as we can with the books we have. Teachers here are mostly local men and women who have been with us for years. They know the families of the students, which makes things easier. When it rains heavily, the ground gets muddy, so we have to be careful where we walk. It’s a basic setup, nothing more, nothing less. We just focus on getting the kids through their exams so they can maybe go to the city for more studies later on. It’s a lot of daily effort, but it’s what we do here in Nadrala. The days are long, but we just keep the doors open for anyone wanting to study.
