Mundakayam Granites Private Limited

Our place is over at 3/299 in Chengal, right near Kalady P.O. It’s a quiet enough area until we start up the equipment. Most of the guys live nearby, so we all walk or bike in. The Kudiyirippil building is where we keep the main office stuff, but we’re usually outside. The granite comes in big blocks or slabs and we have to figure out where to put it all. Space gets tight sometimes. You can see the dust on everything, even our lunch boxes if we leave them out. It’s just the nature of working with stone. We’ve had some hot spells lately that make the yard feel like an oven. We drink a lot of water and try to stay in the shade when we aren't loading. Every now and then a customer comes by and wants to see a specific color or pattern. We walk them through the rows. It’s not a polished showroom, just a working yard. We have to move things with the crane quite often. The ground is uneven, so you have to watch your step. It’s a basic operation. We don’t have a lot of bells and whistles. We just focus on getting the granite moved out to the sites where it’s needed. Sometimes the gate squeaks in the wind, and we keep saying we’ll fix it, but there’s always more stone to move.
