Alan Hydraulic Bricks

Alan Hydraulic Bricks is located in Saraspur, right over by Thabore near the Manchha Masjid. If you see the Amber Cinema, you are pretty close to where we do our work. Making bricks is heavy, physical labor and things get pretty dirty around here. We have the hydraulic machines running most of the day, making that steady thumping sound that you get used to after a while. The ground is usually covered in red dust and bits of stone. We spend our time mixing materials and making sure the pressure on the machines is set correctly so the bricks come out solid. It’s not the kind of job where you wear a suit; we’re usually in boots and old clothes. We supply a lot of the local builders who are putting up houses or walls in the Saraspur area. Sometimes the weather makes things difficult, especially when it’s too wet for the bricks to dry properly, but we manage. Being near the Masjid means we hear the calls to prayer throughout the day, which gives a nice rhythm to our work. We don’t have a fancy website or a big sales office. People usually just come by the site or call us to see if we have enough stock ready. It’s honest work, and there is something satisfying about seeing a big stack of finished bricks ready to be hauled away to a construction site.
