MEENAMALA GRANITES PRIVATE LIMITED

Down in Kolenchery, we are usually at the Mundayil Buildings from early morning. Being so close to Kochi, there is always traffic and something happening nearby. Our yard is at IV/394 and it stays pretty active with the loaders. We mostly handle granite slabs, and they are heavy, so we have to be careful with the machinery. It is not a quiet place to work, but we like it that way. The air smells like stone dust and exhaust from the lorries. Sometimes we sit on the porch of the building during lunch and just watch the cars go by on the main road. The rain in Kerala is no joke, so we spend a lot of time making sure the stock is covered or moved so nobody slips. It’s a lot of physical labor. We don’t really do fancy meetings or anything like that. If someone needs stone, they come talk to us in the office. It’s a small room with a fan that clicks. We keep the books there and have some samples on the floor. Most of our neighbors know us by now. It’s a steady job. Some days are longer than others, especially when a delivery is late. We just wait it out and get the work done when we can. It’s just us doing what we know how to do with the stone and the space we have.
