Jamshedpur is a bit different from the big metro cities, and our office at M 40 2 in Telco Colony reflects that. Oracle Financial Services Software Ltd is the name on the paperwork, but here in Kharangajhar, we’re just a group of people working on computers. The colony has that old-school industrial feel, very quiet and orderly. We’re located in Jharkhand, and the pace of life here is a bit more manageable than places like Delhi or Bangalore. Our office isn't anything special to look at. It’s a practical space where we sit down and deal with software for banks. Most of the people working here grew up around these parts or have lived in Jamshedpur for years. We talk about the local football matches or what’s happening at the plant nearby. The work we do is technical, but we explain things in plain English to each other. We don’t have a fancy canteen, so most of us bring lunch boxes from home and eat together. It’s a very grounded environment. We aren't trying to change the world; we’re just trying to make sure the software we’re responsible for runs without any glitches. Being in Telco Colony gives us a sense of community that you don’t get in big city offices. It’s just a solid, local place to work without any corporate drama.
