Sohiong Fed Farmer Producer Company Limited

We are based in the village of Mawthwan, which is part of the Mawphlang area in the East Khasi Hills. Our group is centered around Embhah Niangti’s place. If you know the Khasi Hills, you know how green and hilly it is around here. We are just a group of local farmers who decided to pool our resources and work as one. Farming in Mawphlang can be quite a task because of the weather and the landscape, but it is what we know best. Most of us have been working the land since we were kids. This producer company helps us get our crops to market without having to do everything alone. It is a very simple setup. We meet in the village, talk about the season, and figure out who needs help with what. There aren't any corporate bosses here, just neighbors and friends who share the same goals. We spend most of our time out in the fields, so the office work usually happens in the evenings or when the weather is too bad to be outside. We don't have a polished story to tell, just the reality of life as farmers in Meghalaya. We want to make sure our community stays strong and that our farms continue to provide for us. It is honest work and we try to do it the best we can, keeping our focus on the land and the people who live on it.
