Nikjagring Agrifed Farmer Producer Company Limited

We are just a bunch of farmers from around Fulbari who decided to work together as Nikjagring Agrifed Farmer Producer Company Limited. Most of us have been digging in the West Garo Hills dirt our whole lives. We started this because doing everything on your own is getting harder every year. You know how it is with the seeds and the rain never coming when you expect it. We use Jongseng Marak’s house at Nagnipara as a bit of a meeting point. It is house number 29. If you come by, you’ll probably see a few of us sitting around talking about prices or what the harvest looks like. It is not a fancy office with big glass windows or anything. It is just a regular place where we get the paperwork done. Farming in Meghalaya has its own set of problems but being part of this group helps us feel less alone in it. We deal with whatever crops the season gives us. Sometimes the roads are bad and getting stuff to market is a headache but we manage. We aren’t experts in business talk, we just know how to grow things and we want to make sure the families here get a fair deal. It’s pretty basic stuff really. We just try to keep things moving forward for the village. The humidity here in Fulbari can be something else, making the work even heavier during the summer months. But that is just part of living in this corner of Meghalaya.
