Wardrobe As A Retail Outlet Executive.

This is our small retail outlet in Pandavnagar, at S/1 in D Block. Delhi-92 is a very crowded area, and our shop is right in the middle of a busy street. The space inside is quite narrow, so we have to be careful about where we put the clothes and the hangers. If more than three or four people come in at the same time, it starts to feel very cramped. We have been here for a good while, and most of the people who live on this block know us by now. We didn't hire anyone to design the shop; we just put up shelves where they would fit and painted the walls ourselves. The lighting is okay, but one of the bulbs has a habit of flickering when it gets hot. We keep saying we will fix it. Working here means doing a bit of everything, like folding the shirts, talking to whoever walks in, and keeping track of the daily sales in a notebook. It isn't a fancy job, but it keeps us on our feet all day. The street outside is always full of noise from the rickshaws and people shouting. We keep the front door open to get some air, even if it means we have to dust the shelves more often. We aren't part of a big chain or anything. It’s just this one shop. We know what kind of things the locals like to buy, so we try to keep that in stock.
