Doon Collection

Our little shop, Doon Collection, is located at B-1249-50, right across from the A-1 LIG Flats in Mayur Vihar Phase III. Being opposite the flats means we see the same faces every single day. It’s a nice neighborhood, even if the parking gets a bit messy in the evenings. We keep a variety of things here, mostly clothes and some household stuff that people in the flats might need quickly. The floor is made of old white tiles that are a bit cracked in the corners, but we keep them clean. My brother and I take turns sitting at the counter. When it’s quiet, we just listen to the radio or talk to the vegetable seller who sets up his cart nearby. We don’t have any big corporate goals; we just want to make sure the shelves are full and the customers find what they are looking for without too much trouble. Sometimes the neighborhood dogs come and sit in the shade of our awning when the sun is too bright. It’s a peaceful enough existence. We’ve seen the kids from the LIG flats grow up and start coming in to buy things on their own. That’s the thing about a place like Mayur Vihar, everyone eventually knows everyone else. We like being part of that small circle, just running our shop and going home when the street lights come on.
