United Surgical Industries

Our workshop is at 445 in the F.I.E. Patparganj Industrial Area. It gets pretty hot in the summers, especially with the machines running. We make surgical tools and hospital equipment. It is a lot of small parts and careful work. You can smell the metal and the cleaning fluids as soon as you walk in. We aren't a big corporation with fancy suits. Most of us wear work clothes and have grease on our hands by lunchtime. The area is packed with factories, so there is always a lot of noise from the street. We try to keep things organized, but sometimes boxes pile up near the entrance. We have been here for years, watching the industrial area grow and change. The tea stall on the corner is where we get our morning snacks. It’s a straightforward way to make a living. We just focus on getting the instruments right so they can be used in hospitals. There are no big meetings or long presentations here. Just the sound of the grinding wheels and people checking the stock. Sometimes we stay late when a big order comes in. It’s just how it goes in Patparganj. We like the work because it feels useful. We don't need to say much more than that. The industrial area can be a bit of a maze if you aren't used to it, but we've lived it for so long. We just get on with it.
