Our shop is situated in Rashid Market, specifically at 39/1 Khurji Khas. If you know Khureji, then you know how the market is always buzzing with people and the narrow lanes are full of energy. We sell all kinds of metal utensils for the kitchen. You will find stacks of stainless steel plates, heavy brass pots for cooking, and even the small lamps used for prayers. The sound of metal hitting metal is something I have grown used to over the years. We put the larger items like plastic buckets and big metal tubs outside on the pavement so passersby can see what we have. Inside, the shelves are packed from the floor to the ceiling. I have to use an old wooden ladder whenever someone wants a large vessel from the top shelf. It is a family-run business, and my father taught me everything about the different types of metals. We get very busy during the wedding seasons when people come to buy large sets for gifts or for their new homes. Sometimes the customers stay for a long time, comparing the weight of different pans to see which one is better. We don't have a computer or anything, I just write everything down in a big ledger. The floor is made of old stone and it is quite worn out now. We are just a local shop providing sturdy kitchenware to the families in this part of town.
