Our place is in Govindpura, specifically at number 39 in the New Rashid Market. It’s a tight street and can get really packed during the evening rush when everyone is out buying groceries. We deal with various electronics and household items that people need for their homes. The building is older, so the walls have some marks, and the floor isn't perfectly level, but it serves its purpose. We keep a lot of stock piled up because you never know what someone might ask for. One day it’s a mixer, the next it’s a new iron. We have seen the market grow over the years, with new shops opening and others closing down. It’s a lively neighborhood. People here like to bargain, so we spend a fair amount of time talking back and forth about prices. It’s not like those big malls where everything is fixed and quiet. Here, it’s loud and personal. We know most of the families living in the lanes behind the market. Sometimes the kids come in just to look at the new gadgets we put in the window. We try to keep things simple and don't bother with much decoration. The shop is what it is. We open early and stay until the market starts to quiet down at night. It’s just a regular way to earn a living in this part of Delhi.
