We are based in New Kondli, at D 1/179 on the second floor. It’s a local neighborhood and we’ve been here for a while now. We do apparel work, mostly focusing on getting garments ready for our clients. The space we have is just a regular second-floor unit. It’s not very big, but it fits our machines and the cutting table. We usually start our day early before the heat gets too bad. There are four or five of us working here most of the time. We aren’t fancy people. We wear regular clothes and just get to work. The street outside can get pretty crowded with scooters and delivery trucks. We have to carry our materials up the stairs, which is a bit of a workout. Sometimes we have tea breaks together and talk about the news or what’s happening in the area. We don’t use any big fancy words to describe what we do. We make clothes, and we try to make them well so people don’t complain. Some days the machines break down and we have to fix them ourselves. It’s part of the job. We like being in New Kondli because it feels like home. We know the other shop owners nearby. It’s just a small business trying to keep things going steadily without any drama or big corporate plans. We have a simple routine and it keeps us busy enough to stay out of trouble.
