We are over at 297 in the Patparganj Industrial Estate, which most people around here just call FIE. It’s one of those busy parts of East Delhi where there’s always something moving, mostly trucks or those small loading tempos. The office isn't anything special to look at. We have the usual desks and a lot of files stacked up because things tend to pile up quickly. Most of the time it’s just the sound of the ceiling fan and someone talking on the phone about a delivery. The building itself has been around for a bit, so you’ll see some cracks in the plaster here and there. We don’t really mind it. The main thing is getting the day’s work done. In the afternoons, the sun hits the front window pretty hard, so we keep the old curtains drawn. You can hear the tea seller downstairs shouting every hour. Sometimes we call him up when it gets too tiring. It’s mostly just us trying to keep track of what’s coming in and what’s going out. The shelves are full of various items and paperwork. It can get a bit cramped when a new shipment arrives, and we have to shuffle things around to make space. It’s just a regular workplace where people show up, do what they need to do, and head back home through the Delhi traffic. We’ve stayed here because it’s where everything happens in this part of town.
