Jaggi Achar Bhandar

Jaggi Achar Bhandar is our little shop located at Shop No 14 in the C 4 E Market of Janakpuri. As the name suggests, we are all about pickles. When you walk in, the first thing you’ll notice is the strong smell of spices and oil. We have jars and containers of all sizes lined up everywhere. It’s a local market, so it’s always busy with families doing their shopping. We’ve been in this specific spot for quite a while. The shop is quite small, so we have to be clever about how we stack things. There’s no big fancy display, just the jars with handwritten labels sometimes. We spend a lot of time talking to customers about which pickle goes best with what meal. It’s a very traditional kind of business. We don't use any fancy machinery here; it’s mostly just us handling the jars and serving the customers. Sometimes the market gets very crowded on the weekends, and it can be hard to move around, but we like the energy. It’s a family-run kind of feel, even if not everyone is related. We just keep things simple and focus on the pickles. It’s a bit messy with the oil sometimes, but that’s just part of the job. We have to keep an eye on the jars to make sure they are always sealed tight. It's hard work but it keeps us busy. We usually close up once the market starts to quiet down.
