Freelance

Our work happens at 100 Deshbandhu Apartments in I P Extension. It’s a busy residential area in Delhi. We use a couple of rooms in the apartment to run everything. It’s often a bit messy, with computers and wires everywhere you look. Running Freelance from an apartment means we have to be organized, but we don't always succeed. We don’t really have a cleaning crew, so we just tidy up ourselves when things get too out of hand. The building is older, which gives it a bit of character, though the stairs can be a climb when the lift is down. We’ve spent many long nights here trying to finish projects. The neighborhood is full of life, and you can always hear people talking or cars honking outside. It keeps us from feeling too isolated while we work. We don't have a big boardroom; we just sit around the dining table when we need to discuss something. It’s a very informal way of doing things, but it works for us. Most of the people around here are families, so we try to keep the noise down. We aren't trying to be some massive corporation. We’re just a small group doing our thing from a flat. It’s practical and keeps our costs low. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just sit and wait, chatting until it’s back. It’s a very human way to work, dealing with the same daily stuff as everyone else in Delhi.
