Ashok Pan Bhandar

We've been here at D-1428 in Jahangirpuri for a long time now. It’s just a small corner, really. Most people around here know us as Ashok Pan Bhandar. We open up early in the morning and stay until late at night. You’ll see the same faces every day, neighbors coming by for their usual fix after dinner or just to chat for a bit. There isn't much room inside, just enough for the jars of supari and the different leaves we keep fresh. We don't do anything fancy, just the basic stuff people like. Sometimes it gets a bit crowded when the weather is nice, but we manage. My father started this years ago, and I just kept it going because it’s what we know how to do. The street outside is always busy with cycles and people walking by. We keep the counter clean and try to make sure we don't run out of the popular items. It’s not a big business or anything, just a way to make a living in the neighborhood. We see the kids growing up and then coming back as adults. That’s how life goes around here. We just keep rolling the leaves and handing them out through the window. It’s a simple routine, day in and day out. If you're walking past the block, you’ll find us easily.
