Destinational Educational Welfare Society

Our society is based out in Durgapur, right in the City Centre at 58 Kabiguru Sarani. This is in the Burdwan district of West Bengal. We’ve been working out of this building for several years, focusing on educational and welfare programs for the community. It’s not a commercial business, so the feel of the place is very different. It’s more like a community center than a corporate office. We have shelves full of books, stacks of forms for various school programs, and often a few students or parents sitting around waiting to talk to someone. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we spend our money on supplies and programs instead. We have a small group of people who keep the place running, mostly volunteers and a couple of staff members. It gets a bit hectic when we have a new program starting, with people coming and going all day. We try to keep things organized, but there’s always a bit of a mess on the tables. It’s a friendly place though. We know the local shopkeepers and the families around Kabiguru Sarani quite well. We aren't here to make a big name for ourselves. We just want to make sure the kids in this part of Durgapur have a bit more help with their studies and their future. It’s simple, grassroots work and we’ve been at it for a long time now without much change in our daily goals.
