Sri Devi Engg Works

Sri Devi Engg Works is our workshop over at 425, Thadikombu Road. We are quite close to the Collectorate, so it is a pretty easy landmark for people to find. The shop is a big open space with a high roof and lots of heavy machinery. It is always a bit noisy inside because of the tools and the sound of metal being worked on. We have grease and oil on the floors and our hands are usually stained by the time we go home in the evening. There isn't an office where you can sit down in a soft chair; we usually just talk to customers right there on the shop floor. My brother and I started this place because we liked working with our hands. We don't have any big marketing plans or a fancy business strategy. We just take in the work that comes our way and try to finish it without any fuss. The afternoon sun hits the front of the building quite hard, making it a bit warm, but we have some big industrial fans to keep the air moving. People around Dindigul know us as the place that’s always open when something breaks down. We’ve had the same neighbors for years and we all know each other’s business. It is a simple life of hard work and making sure the machines keep running until the end of the day when we finally lock up.
