If you go toward Golakganj and look for the masjid in Bisandoi, you will find where we are. Hariali Maize Producer Company Limited is run from Moktar Rahman’s place. We focus mostly on maize, hence the name, because that is what grows well around here. The soil is just right for it if the weather behaves. It’s not a complicated business. We are just a group of neighbors who grow maize and decided it would be easier if we organized ourselves a little bit. We spend a lot of time checking on the stalks and worrying about the rain. It’s a lot of physical labor, and at the end of the day, everyone is pretty tired. We don't have a fancy website or anyone to do our advertising. We just talk to the people we know and sell our harvest where we can. Sometimes we sit near the masjid and talk about how the crop is looking or if anyone has heard anything about new seeds. It is a very local thing. We all live right here in the village or just down the road. We are just trying to keep the maize farming going and make sure everyone gets a fair shake. It is not always perfect, and we make mistakes, but we just keep at it because that is what we do. The stalks are getting tall now.
