Service Art

If you ever find yourself in Shakarpur near B 11, you might see us working away at Service Art. It’s a small shop and we’ve been here long enough that the regulars don't even need to look at the sign anymore. We handle all sorts of repairs and odd jobs that come our way. The workbench is always cluttered with tools and parts from whatever we were fixing yesterday. Sometimes it’s a bit overwhelming when three people walk in at once with different problems, but we just take them one by one. The air is usually a bit thick with the smell of solder or cleaning fluids. We don't have a receptionist or a waiting room with magazines. People usually just stand by the counter and chat while we take a look at their stuff. It’s a neighborhood kind of place where everyone knows everyone’s business. We try to be fair and just tell people straight if something can’t be fixed. It’s better than giving them false hope. The lighting inside isn't the best, but we have some good lamps for the detailed work. It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s nice to work with your hands and see something working again that was broken before. We’ll probably be here at B 11 for many more years, just doing the same work we've always done every day. The neighborhood has changed a lot, but we still have the same old door that sticks in the summer. It's just part of being here for so long.
