Salasar Trading Co is right in the middle of the chaos at Ajmeri Gate, specifically at Plot No 243 in Phatak Karor. If you have ever been to Ajmeri Gate, you know it’s one of the most crowded parts of the city. There are handcarts and rickshaws everywhere, and the noise is something else. Our shop is tucked away in the Phatak, and it is packed from floor to ceiling with stock. We trade in various goods and it’s a constant cycle of boxes coming in and boxes going out. We don't have a lot of space to move around, so you have to be careful not to trip over anything. The air is thick with the smell of old buildings and whatever we are moving that day. We start early because the trucks can only come in at certain times. It’s a lot of manual labor, lifting and shifting items all day long. We keep our accounts in big ledgers and there is always a calculator nearby. It’s an old-school way of doing business, but it works for us. We know all the other traders in the lane, and we often share tea while waiting for a delivery. It’s not a polished corporate office, but it’s a place where real business happens every single day. We just keep our heads down and make sure the inventory matches what we are sending out to the customers.
