Our office for Recruitment And Training Services Ltd is tucked inside 213, Amrapali Apts. Being in an apartment complex in Patparganj makes it feel a bit different than a regular commercial building. You have to tell the security guard where you are going when you enter the gate. We have turned a couple of rooms into an office space where we handle recruitment and some training sessions. There are stacks of resumes on the wooden desks and the printer is almost always running out of ink at the wrong time. New Delhi summers are tough, so we keep the curtains drawn to block the sun. Candidates come in for interviews throughout the day, sitting on the sofa in what used to be a living room. We talk to people about their jobs and try to figure out where they might fit best. It is a lot of phone calls. Sometimes the neighbor’s dog barks while we are on a call, which is just how it is working from an apartment. The kitchen area is where we keep the kettle for tea. We don’t have fancy signs or anything, just a small nameplate. Patparganj is quite crowded, so finding a place to park a scooter can be a real headache some days. We just keep things moving, filing paperwork and updating our spreadsheets while the ceiling fan hums overhead. It is a busy little spot but we manage to get the work done.
