Old Tehsil Road is a busy place to be. Shri Ganesh Tea Company is right in the middle of it in Ward No. 19. If you stand near the Ghantaghar Chowk, you can hear the clock strike every hour. The Main Bazar is always full of people looking for something or other. We have been at this spot for a while now. The building is old, like most things on this road. We have a heavy shutter that we roll up every morning. It makes a loud clanging sound that the neighbors probably don't like much. Inside, the space is filled with the smell of dry tea leaves. We keep the registers and the bags organized as best as we can. It gets crowded when the market is in full swing. Sometimes it's hard to hear yourself think with all the traffic outside. We don’t use any big fancy slogans. We are just a local company doing what we do. The floor is made of old stone and it stays cool even when the sun is beating down on the bazar. We spend our afternoons checking the stock and talking to the people who stop by. It’s a simple routine. We see the seasons change from our front door. Winters are nice because the tea stays hot longer. In the monsoon, we have to make sure the roof doesn't leak near the storage area. It’s just daily life here near the chowk. We lock up when the bazaar starts to thin out.
