Moravian Institute

Moravian Institute is situated in Rajpur, specifically in the Zhan-Phan-Ling area on Mussoorie Road. It’s quite high up, so you get a great view of the valley when the sky is clear. The weather here changes fast; one minute it’s sunny, and the next, clouds are rolling in over the roof. We’ve been here for a long time, and the buildings have that sturdy, old-fashioned look. There is a lot of character in the woodwork and the way the stairs creak in the main hall. It’s not the kind of place that feels like a cold institution. It feels more like an old house that just kept growing. We have a lot of greenery around us, which means there’s always leaves to sweep up. The staff mostly lives nearby, so we are all quite close. Mornings usually start with the sound of the wind through the pines. It’s a bit of a climb to get to some of the higher classrooms, but you get used to it. We don’t have fancy technology in every corner, just the things that work. Most of our time is spent just making sure the kids are comfortable and the school is running smoothly. It’s a bit isolated from the noise of the main city, which helps everyone stay focused on their tasks. It’s just a steady, quiet life here in Rajpur, doing what we’ve always done for the community.
