Kanpur Institute For Mathematics is over at Simla By Pass, number 1, right near Saharanpur Road in the Majra area of Dehradun. It’s a busy spot with all the buses and trucks going past. We have been here for a while, just focusing on numbers and equations. It’s a simple setup. We have some tables, a lot of chalk, and even more paper. Math isn’t everyone’s favorite thing, so we try to make it less of a headache for the people who walk through our door. The office is right on the main stretch, so it’s easy to find but can get a bit dusty from the road work nearby. We don’t have a fancy waiting room or a secretary. Usually, you just walk in and find one of us working on a problem at a desk. The building is pretty basic, just concrete and paint. It gets a bit cold in the winter months, but we just wrap up and keep going. We get all kinds of students, some who are struggling and some who just want to get ahead. We don’t promise anything crazy. We just sit down and do the math. Sometimes we stay late when a tough problem needs solving. It’s just a regular part of life here in Majra. If you’re passing by the bypass, you’ll see our sign. It’s a plain place for people who need help with their sums.
