Hind Handicrafts is situated at number 85, right near the Post Office in Majra. It is a quiet spot, and we like it that way because it gives us the peace we need to work on our items. We make a variety of things by hand, mostly using wood and some metal that we get from nearby. Our shop isn't like the big stores you see in the city. It is more of a workshop where we have a small corner to show what we have finished. You can usually find shavings on the floor and the smell of cut timber in the air. We don't have a website or a social media page. If someone wants to buy something, they usually just walk in or call the neighbor's phone if we aren't around. We have lived in Majra for generations, and the business has stayed small on purpose. We don't want to deal with the headache of a big factory. Each piece takes as long as it takes, and we don't like to rush. Sometimes we sit outside on the bench and talk to the people going to the post office while we work on smaller carvings. It’s a slow way of doing things, but it’s the way we were taught by our elders. We just hope that people appreciate the time we put into the work. It gets cold here in the winter, so we move the benches closer to the small stove.
