Doon Institute

Doon Institute is out at the 9th Milestone on the Rishikesh-Haridwar Highway. We are in the Shyampur area, which is part of Dehradun City but feels a bit more out in the open. Being on the highway means there is always a lot of movement. You see the big trucks and the tourist buses going by all day long. Our building is a solid structure that’s been here for quite some time. We’ve got a fair amount of space, which is lucky. It’s not decorated with expensive stuff. We mostly just have the essentials for our classes and day-to-day operations. The commute can be a bit of a chore for some of us, especially when the highway is busy during the pilgrimage season. But once you’re inside, it’s a bit more peaceful. We have a lot of different people coming through here from the surrounding villages and towns. We just try to keep things organized and helpful. The walls are a plain white, and the furniture is the sturdy kind that lasts for years. We aren’t trying to impress anyone with a shiny lobby. We just want to provide a place where people can come and learn what they need to. It’s a practical, hardworking environment out here in Shyampur. We take things one day at a time and try to keep the fans running when it gets hot.
