Davanagere Banjara Farmer Producer Company Limited

Our group is set up in Gantapura at No 28, which is in the Taraganalli Post area of Honnalli Taluk. Dr. Onkar Naik G helps us keep the whole thing together. Most of us are from the Banjara community and we have been farming this land for a very long time. We decided to form this producer company because it felt like the right time to get a bit more organized with how we sell our crops. It is not a big operation with a lot of staff. It is just us, the farmers, doing the work ourselves. We meet at the house in Gantapura to talk about what we are going to plant and how we can handle the transport. The weather is always a big topic of conversation because it can be so unpredictable. We are just regular people who know what it is like to work in the sun all day. We do not have any fancy brochures or polished sales pitches. We just want to make sure that our families are doing okay and that the farming stays viable for us. If you come by looking for us, we might be out in the fields instead of at the office. It is an honest way to live and we are proud of the work we do. We are just trying to make a decent go of it by working together as a community.
