Hanuman Singh’s place in Peechupara Kalan is where we all meet up. It is a small village near Bandikui. Monabas Vikassheel Kisaan Producer Company Limited is a long name for a pretty simple group of farmers. We all live around the Monabas area and decided that we would be better off working as one unit instead of fighting the market alone. Bandikui is the nearest big town, but our hearts and our work are in the village. We spend our days out in the fields and our evenings talking about how to get a better price for what we grow. Hanuman Singh is usually the one who keeps everything organized and makes sure the papers are signed. His house is always open to the other members for a chat. We don't have any glossy brochures or a fancy mission statement posted on the wall. We just want to make sure our families are taken care of and the land stays healthy for the kids. Sometimes the rains are late and we all worry together, but that’s just the life of a kisaan in Rajasthan. We are proud of what we do even if it isn't flashy or modern. There are no suits or ties here, just people who know how to work a plow. We’re just a local group trying to make progress in our own small way. It’s honest, hard work.
