Mehandipurbalaji Krishak Producer Company Limited operates out of Sarvan Kumar Sharma’s place in Chosana. It’s a local operation through and through. We didn’t really plan on making a big deal out of it. We just needed a way to organize the farmers in this part of Chosana. Most days you will find a few of us sitting around discussing the latest news from the fields. It is a simple setup with a couple of tables and a cupboard for our documents. We deal with the realities of farming life every single day. If the tractor breaks down or the rain doesn't come, we are the ones talking about it here. We don't use any fancy management speak. We just talk like neighbors because that is what we are. The office is right there in the village so it is easy for anyone to stop by. We have some old maps on the wall and a calendar that we use to track the seasons. Sometimes the tea is cold by the time we get around to drinking it because we are busy talking. It is a modest place but it works for us. We aren't trying to impress anyone with a big building. We just want to make sure the work gets done and the farmers here get a fair shake. It is a long day usually but we are used to it and it keeps us busy.
