Welcomheritage Windamere Hotel

We are located on Observatory Hill in Darjeeling. It is a very old hotel, and it has been here since the old days. The building is made of wood and stone, and it sits high up with a view of the mountains. When the weather is clear, you can see quite far, but often the mist just rolls in and covers everything. It’s very quiet up here compared to the market down in the town. We have fireplaces in the rooms because it gets very cold at night. We spend a lot of time cleaning the glass and keeping the gardens neat. The staff here has been around for a long time. We serve tea in the afternoons in the drawing room. It’s a slow pace of life. We don't have many modern gadgets. The floors creak when you walk on them, and the furniture is all very old. People come here when they want to get away from the noise of the city. We have a lot of old stories about the people who used to stay here. It takes a bit of a walk to get up the hill from the main road. The air is very fresh. We just go about our business of looking after the place and the people who visit us. It’s a special spot in West Bengal.
