Ms Utkal Steel Industry

Ms Utkal Steel Industry is located right near College Square. It is a very active area because the Railway Stations are just a short distance away and Ravenshaw University is right there too. You can always hear the students talking and the trains coming in while we are working with the steel. We have been at this spot for a good while now. The building is old but it works for what we do. It gets hot inside when the machines are running, especially in the afternoon sun. We usually have the doors open to get a bit of a breeze from the square. People are always walking past our gates on their way to class or to catch a train. Sometimes they look in to see what all the noise is about. We don't mind it. It’s just how the day goes here. The yard is usually full of metal scraps and different pieces we are working on. We don't have a big fancy lobby or anything, just a small space for the desk and some chairs. My cousin helps out with the lifting and we just try to get through the orders as they come. It’s a loud place to work but it’s home for us. Being near the university means there is always something happening outside. We just keep our heads down and handle the steel without worrying too much about the commotion.
