Cuttack is a city of narrow lanes and old buildings, and Aarti Steel Ltd is right in the thick of it over at Aparna Nagar in Nayabazar. Bishnu Charan Swain is the one you’ll usually find managing the day-to-day things here. Our office is in a place called Kaibaly Bihar, which is a bit of a squeeze when the delivery trucks try to navigate the nearby streets. Cuttack is known for being a bit crowded, and our location is no exception. Inside, it’s a lot of paperwork, stacks of files, and people coming in and out to talk about steel orders. We don't have a lot of fancy decorations on the walls, just some calendars and maybe a photo of the family. The air is thick with humidity because of the river nearby, and we rely on old ceiling fans to keep things comfortable. It’s a practical setup where we handle the administrative side of the steel business. You can hear the sounds of the neighborhood—vendors shouting on the street and the constant honking of scooters—right through the windows. It’s not a quiet, isolated corporate park. We are part of the community here in Nayabazar. People stop by just to say hello or to discuss business over a quick cup of tea. It’s a busy, somewhat messy, but very real way of doing things in this part of Odisha.
