Prg Higher Secondary School

Prg Higher Secondary School is right on Udayarkudi Road in Kattumannarkoil, and it’s been there as long as most people can remember. I’ve lived in this area my whole life, so seeing the kids walk down the road with their heavy bags is just part of the morning scenery for me. The school itself isn’t anything flashy. It’s a solid building that’s seen a lot of rain and sun over the years. We have a big courtyard where everyone gathers for the morning assembly, and if it rains, it gets a bit muddy near the entrance. You just get used to it. The teachers here are mostly locals who have been around for a decade or more. We talk about the kids like they’re our own, mostly because we know their parents and their grandparents too. Kattumannarkoil is a small enough place that everyone’s business is everyone’s business. In the afternoons, the street gets crowded with cycles when the older students head home. We spend a lot of time making sure the fans are working in the classrooms because it gets quite stuffy in the afternoons. There’s always a stack of papers to grade or a parent waiting by the gate to ask about an exam. It’s a steady, predictable kind of work. We don't have fancy tech in every room, but we have enough to get the job done and the kids seem happy enough to be here.
