Up here at 197/A, Brooklands, the air is a bit different. Nilgiri Tea Producing Co., Ltd. is based right in the heart of the hills. It’s a quiet place, mostly. We deal with tea all day long, which makes sense given where we are. The building at Brooklands has been around for years and it shows its age in a few spots. We don't mind, though. It’s got character. Our days start early because the work doesn't wait. There's always something to check on, whether it's the leaf quality or the packing. We aren't some massive factory with robots. It’s mostly just us using our hands and eyes. Some days the mist is so thick you can’t see the road, but we still make it in. We don't spend money on fancy brochures. We'd rather just focus on the tea. It’s a simple life, really. We talk to the workers, we look at the crops, and we try to keep everything organized. Sometimes the paperwork gets behind when things get busy during harvest, but we catch up eventually. People know us around here because we’ve been at this address for as long as anyone can remember. It’s just what we do. No big speeches or goals, just making sure the tea gets out to the people who want it. That's the way it's been for a long time now. We just take it one season at a time and do our best.
