Doddabetta Tea Factory

We are located on the Holmwood Nankem Hospital premises in Coonoor. Being so close to the hospital means it’s usually quite easy to explain where we are to people who aren’t from around here. Coonoor is a beautiful place, and the air is usually pretty fresh, which is a nice change from the bigger cities. The tea factory isn’t some massive industrial plant; it’s more of a local operation. We have the machines for processing the leaves, and the smell of tea is everywhere. It’s a strong, earthy scent that stays with you even after you leave. We spend our days checking the dryers and making sure the grades are right. It’s repetitive work, but there’s a rhythm to it that we like. Sometimes tourists come by to see how things are done, and we show them around without much fuss. We don’t have a big marketing team or anything. It’s just us and the machines. The building is older, but it does the job. We have some basic seating if anyone needs a break. The weather here can get quite misty, which makes the whole place feel a bit hidden away. We just keep doing what we’ve been doing for years. It’s about the tea and the daily grind. We aren't looking to expand into some giant corporation. We just want to keep the factory running and stay part of the Coonoor community near Nankem Hospital. It is a simple life for us.
