We are based at 207, Kamalalayam, on Lingappa Chetty Lane 2 in Coimbatore. The Southern India Engg Manufacturers Association Siema is basically an office where a lot of the local industrial talk happens. The lane itself is narrow and can get pretty crowded with delivery vehicles and bikes, especially during the middle of the week. Inside the office, there are a lot of shelves filled with old files and registers that have been around for quite a while. We have some large tables for meetings and the chairs are the heavy wooden kind that you don't see much of anymore. It is not a flashy place by any means. It feels more like a workspace where people come to get things sorted out rather than a fancy corporate suite. We usually have a lot of paperwork to get through and the phone rings pretty often with questions about local manufacturing stuff. The building, Kamalalayam, has its own character and you can tell it has been part of the Coimbatore landscape for years. There is usually a bit of a breeze coming through the windows but sometimes the noise from the nearby shops is a bit much. Most of us here have been doing this for a long time and we just know the routine by heart. It is just a steady, working environment where we keep track of what is happening in the engineering sector around the southern region.
