We’ve been based at our spot at 1, Sundaram Brothers Layout for quite a few years now. You can find us right on Trichy Road, situated directly opposite the All India Radio station. It’s a landmark that most people around here know, which helps when we have visitors or new drivers coming in. Being in the sugar business isn't exactly a glamorous life. It involves a lot of early mornings and staying late to make sure the loading is done correctly. The office we work out of is pretty basic, just some desks, chairs, and stacks of ledgers that seem to grow every week. We don't have a fancy reception area or a coffee machine for guests. It’s a working warehouse through and through. The air usually has a bit of a sweet, heavy scent to it, and you can always hear the sound of the trucks idling out front. We manage the processing and the logistics of getting sugar to where it needs to go. Sometimes the traffic on Trichy Road makes things difficult, but we’ve learned to work around the busy times. Our crew is small and we all know each other's names. We aren't interested in being some big corporate giant. We just want to get the orders right and keep the business running smoothly. It’s hard work, and by the end of the day, we’re all pretty tired, but it’s an honest way to make a living in this city.
