Prince 5 Mushroom

Our little operation is at No. 10, Kuppanna Street. If you’re looking for us, we’re right near the Women’s Polytechnic in P.N. Palayam. It’s a busy little neighborhood with students walking by all the time and people heading to the local shops. We grow mushrooms, which is a bit of a weird business if you think about it. We spend a lot of time in the dark, damp rooms making sure the temperature and the humidity are just right for the Prince 5 mushrooms to grow. It’s a lot of waiting and then a lot of picking once they’re ready. My hands are always a bit stained from the compost, but that’s just part of the work. We don't have a big fancy sign or a reception desk. Usually, if you come by, you’ll find me or one of the guys moving bags of substrate or checking the shelves. We know the neighbors pretty well, and sometimes we trade some mushrooms for whatever they’re doing. It’s a small street, so we have to be careful not to block the road when the supplies arrive. We don't really have a big plan for the future; we just want to make sure the mushrooms we grow are decent and that we get them to the market before they go soft. It’s a lot of humidity and hard work, but it’s what we know how to do here in P.N. Palayam.
