We are set up at 91/92 in Srinagar, right on the Pallakad Main Road in the Bk Pudur area. It’s a high-traffic spot, so there is always the sound of heavy trucks and buses rumbling past our front door. The building is basically a large shed and office combo where we keep all the power units and batteries. It’s often quite dusty because of the road work nearby, and we spend a lot of time sweeping the floor. There are five of us here most days, mostly wearing old work shirts because the job involves moving heavy equipment around. We don’t have a fancy showroom, just rows of shelves and a few desks tucked into the corner where the light is better. When the power goes out in the neighborhood, which happens more than you’d think, we are the ones everyone calls. We usually have a pot of coffee going in the back room to keep us awake during the long shifts. The walls are covered with old calendars and maps of the local area so we can plan our routes for deliveries. It’s a practical workspace without any decorations or soft chairs. We handle a lot of heavy lifting and sometimes the grease gets on everything, but that’s just part of the business. We’ve been on this main road for years and the local tea seller knows exactly how we like our drinks. It’s a lot of manual labor, but we don’t mind it much.
