Sivasakthi Granites Company

Out here on the Namakkal Main Road in Thiruchencode, things move at their own pace. We spend most of our time dealing with heavy stone and the big saws that cut through it. Sivasakthi Granites has been sitting on this stretch of road for quite a while now. If you drive past, you will see the big slabs leaning against the walls and the workers covered in that fine white dust that comes from the granite. It’s not easy work because everything we handle weighs a ton. We have to be careful with the cranes and making sure the cuts are straight enough for what the customers want. The sun in Namakkal can be pretty brutal in the afternoons so we try to get the heavy lifting done in the morning hours. People come to us from all over the district looking for stone for their houses or for bigger building projects. We don't have a big fancy showroom with air conditioning, just the yard and the office where the paperwork gets piled up. Sometimes the trucks are late or the power goes out, and we just have to wait it out. It is a simple business based on what we can get out of the ground and how well we can finish it. The noise of the blades hitting the stone is something you just get used to after a week of working here.
