Our place, Agasthiyaa Granite Pvt Ltd., is situated at 229 Trichy Road in Ondipudur. If you’ve ever driven down this road, you know how much dust and traffic there is. We have a lot of stone slabs sitting in the yard. It is heavy work moving them around with the crane. We spend our mornings checking the stock and seeing what needs to be cut. Granite is tough material, so it takes some patience to get things right. The shop has been here for a while and we’ve seen the area change a lot. Ondipudur used to be much quieter than it is now. Most of the guys who work here have been doing this for years. We aren't big on decorations or anything like that. The office is just a small room where we keep the records and handle the paperwork. Sometimes the trucks arrive late and we have to stay a bit longer to get everything unloaded. It’s a routine we’ve gotten used to. People stop by to look at colors and patterns for their floors or kitchens. We just show them what’s available in the stacks. It’s honest work and we try to be fair with everyone who walks in. The sun can be quite hot out on the concrete, so we drink a lot of water. It’s just us doing what we know how to do with stone. We’re usually here until late.
