Sri Sairam Granites & Tiles

Up here in Durga Nagar, we’ve been running Sri Sairam Granites & Tiles for a few years now. Kalampalayam is a nice area, growing fast. You can see new houses going up everywhere you look. We try to keep enough stock so people don’t have to wait too long. Granites are one thing, but tiles are another story because they can crack so easily if you aren't gentle with the crates. We have guys who are good at loading the tempos without breaking things. I usually stay near the front to talk to anyone who walks in. People come in with measurements written on scraps of paper or sometimes they just guess based on how their room looks. We tell them to go back and measure again so they don't buy too much or too little. The summer heat in Kalampalayam gets pretty bad, so we do most of the heavy lifting in the morning. By afternoon, we are mostly just sitting in the shade of the shop talking to visitors. There’s a lot of dust from the road that gets on the tile boxes, so we have to wipe them down often. It’s not a glamorous job, but it feels good when a customer comes back to say their floor looks alright. We’re just a local spot at 94 Durga Nagar, doing what we can with the stones and tiles we get from the suppliers.
